Riot Games' Bold Move: Valorant Open QualifiersI'm so excited for this!Guess what, everyone? Valorant's esports scene is "exploding" in 2024, and by exploding, I mean Riot Games has decided that letting more amateurs crash the party is the way to go. They've introduced the Premier track, because apparently, anyone with a keyboard and mouse deserves a shot at the big leagues. Not only has the Valorant Champions Tour already peaked at 1.4 million viewers in 2023, but now Riot thinks it's a brilliant idea to throw open the gates even wider. Why stick with just the seasoned pros when you can have your neighbor, who only plays on weekends, compete for glory? It’s like mixing Michelin-star chefs with your cousin who just learned to make toast. Genius move, Riot.Premier track is expanding the open qualifiers system, because who wouldn’t want to see more weekend warriors in high-stakes matches? This is surely going to bring in even more "high-quality" gameplay and "consistency" to the tournaments. Can't wait to see how this pans out.#Valorant #Esports #OpenQualifiers #RiotGames #PremierTrack #GamingNews---

In the Realm of MOBAs: How Riot Games Claimed the Throne with Loss Leader PricingWorlds 2023 was the most-watched esports event in history, with a peak viewership of over 6.4 million viewers. The tournament also generated over 100 million unique impressions across social media. Faker continued to be the legend that rose from the ashes to show us the meaning of persistence. But there is more to the story of this event and the game behind the scenes while trying to find a reason for it success i came across the genius pricing strategy of Riot Games.Traditionally, MOBAs relied on a pay-to-play model, limiting their reach. Riot Games defied convention, offering League of Legends entirely free-to-play. This decision unlocked a vast audience, enticing gamers who might not have otherwise invested. As the player base surged, Riot Games introduced a sophisticated in-game purchase system, offering a plethora of non-essential cosmetic items. These optional extras, from character skins to visual effects, allowed players to personalize their experience, fostering a sense of ownership and attachment.Riot Games' brilliance lay in balancing accessibility and monetization. Free-to-play removed financial barriers, while in-game purchases catered to players' desire for customization, generating revenue without compromising the core gameplay. This strategy catapulted League of Legends to the top of the MOBA hierarchy, amassing over 100 million active players worldwide. The game transcended virtual realms, spawning a thriving esports scene that captivated millions.Riot Games' loss leader pricing strategy redefined the industry, inspiring developers and democratizing gaming. It showcased the power of innovation and strategic thinking, cementing Riot Games' legacy as a pioneer in the ever-evolving gaming landscape. The finerprint of it carries a ton of lessons for game developers and esports orgs in India.Shout to going indie on Youtube for some of pointershttps://lnkd.in/d7fv7FBm #Esports #Leagueoflegends #ProductPricing #Esportsindia #Riotgames #Indiangaming #Faker #legend

The Korean team defeated G2 Esports for the second time, eliminating the last representative of the LEC from the Mid-Season Invitational 2024. To secure a place in the grand finals (where Gen.G awaits), Faker's squad will face the Chinese club Bilibili Gaming. The first time T1 and G2 met, they reached nearly 2.5 Million Peak Viewers (excluding Chinese platforms), setting a new record for the MSI series. However, the second series between them was much shorter and didn't reach the same heights. For now, these two matches remain the only ones from MSI 2024 to get over the 2M mark, something that is likely to change, as we approach the last two series of this historical League of Legends esports tournament.Get more stats from the Riot Games Mid-Season Invitational here:➡ https://lnkd.in/d2JEuYJV

And again, some of the 2023 esports viewership rankings are here. This time, our brilliant editorial team published Top Esports Disciplines of 2023. No surprises at all. League of Legends, MLBB, CS2 (CS:GO), Dota2 and Valorant. All the games easily hold the attention of their loyal fan base and gain new audiences in different regions. The updated 2024 tournament series will help keep them at the top. Frankly speaking, I have some concerns about Dota2, but let's live this year first and have a look at the similar2024 ranking.Well done, 🥇 Riot Games🥈 MOONTON GAMES🥉 Valve corporationThe article is located at the link https://lnkd.in/dw6nhCvN#audience #rankings #esports #analytics

Riot Games’ latest esports season is fully underway, and it’s time for us to highlight the behind-the-scenes of our regional business, and showcase the various ways we strive to make it better to be an esports fan. As you’re likely aware, it has been a challenging time for our company, but we still want to showcase the highlights of last year. Therefore I’m pleased to present the Riot Games EMEA Esports Season Review 2023. This annual publication gives both esports fans and newcomers a full overview of our competitive ecosystem and regional esport structure, recapping results, storylines, and the evolution of our competition management and integrity practices. The 2023 edition (our third to-date) features an overhauled design and new look. The content includes articles on the updated League of Legends (LEC) format and climatic Season Finals weekend in Montpellier-Occitanie, launch of VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA and intro to its partner teams, and updates to our competition policies - including the new Sporting Financial Regulations (SFR). For newcomers to the Riot competitive circuit, the Review includes guides to our games and esports products; including annotated maps of the various tiers of competitions in League of Legends and VALORANT. #esports #riotgames #EMEA #VALORANT #LeagueofLegends

VALORANT Leads the Way: Highest Female Esports Prize Distribution in 2023❗ The indicator shows green light towards diversity within an industry that's not currently enjoying excessive money and investments. Great news as the Riot Games' game title has been my main focus recently.Additionally:🔸 Increased viewer interest: 28M hours, +15% from 2022🔸 Mobile games most viewed by events🔸 Twitch main platform; 56% of viewings hours, followed by YouTube (34.1%)▶ Interesting to see how the numbers develop in 2024, as recent trend paints picture of organizations reducing variety in teams. #esports #esportsindustry #esportsnews 📃: https://lnkd.in/dd7vBMYb
